Transformation: Kitchen Becomes Bright, Fresh, Coastal

BEFORE

The couple who purchased this New Smyma Beach, FL vacation home did so with an eye toward eventually transitioning to living in the home full time. While the couple performed some updates to the home on their own, they found themselves in need of professional help for the outdated and drab kitchen. With dreams of a fresh white coastal farmhouse-style space, they enlisted the help of Sarah Kraus Bartelson from S&W Kitchens.

By working with a carpenter, the design team was able to create a to-code custom stair railing that featured rustic X shapes, which are also reflected on the ends of the island and the back of the peninsula. After an exhaustive search, flooring from Mohawk in a gray and brown driftwood color was selected. Black matte finishes for contrast and warm wood pendants over the island help to turn a classic white kitchen into a unique space.
