Average Kitchen Cabinet Costs $100 – $1,200 per foot according to HomeAdvisor
Three cabinet categories
If you’re new in this industry and it’s your first time learning about cabinetry, then you probably never heard of the terms: stock, semi-custom, and custom cabinetry. They all refer to the manufacturing process of cabinets.
We want you to keep in mind that as you decide on cabinets for your kitchen renovation, and search for their prices, you need to know that those prices are most of the time affected by multiple things. Those things are: construction, materials, modification options, and believe it or not, but your place of living can also impact the price.
If your budget is not playing the main role in your cabinet buying decision, then keep in mind these things:
→ Cabinets are there to mostly fit your overall style
→ Don’t forget about the storage solutions
→ Choose durability
Make sure that the brand of your choice meets your criteria. Of course, if your budget does play an important role, then be aware that these features will cost more. When setting your budget, always put the quality into the equation as your important factor. Even though some cabinets and brands might seem like the cost-effective choice, think about it in the long term. Cabinets of higher quality are usually pricier, but with more customization options available and more durable life, you’ll get yourself not just long-life quality cabinets but also those that are as timeless as effective for the long run. Kitchen renovation and buying new cabinetry is a costly and time-consuming process, so investing in your cabinets in the first place will save you from that.
Stock cabinets
Stock cabinets are the most affordable option available in the market. They usually vary from $50 to $100 per linear foot alone. But, when installed, they will go from $100 to $300. Keep in mind that stock construction comes with fewer design options, and that’s also why it costs less than semi-custom and custom cabinets. Since sometimes quality and measurement issues can be a problem with prefab types, you should always carefully measure the location of your new install before purchasing. Or, have a professional measure your space if you’re unsure.
Semi-custom cabinets
If you’re looking for a unique, durable, yet more affordable than custom cabinets, then semi-custom cabinets are the best choice for you. So, if you’re budget is a bit larger and want a better aesthetic of your cabinets, they can vary from $150 to $650 per linear foot installed. If you want just cabinets alone then the cost will be somewhere between $75 to $400 per linear foot or $150+ per unit. Their disadvantage might only be a lack of more exotic designs.
Custom cabinets
Lastly, if your budget is a lot larger then custom cabinets are your ultimate choice. They’re perfect for unique/specific designs of the kitchen and functionality. They usually cost between $500 to $1,200 per linear foot installed. Cabinets alone can cost between $300 and $750 per linear foot. So, even though custom cabinets meet all your needs, they also meet your budget’s needs, and that may be the only disadvantage.
